Arthur Ray Palmer (Ray) beloved husband, father, PaPa, neighbor, and friend, of Oklahoma City passed away on March 1, 2020. Ray was born to the late Arthur and Alice Palmer on March 1, 1927 in Talihina, Oklahoma. He graduated from Latta High School, served in the Navy in WW II, and upon his return married his high school sweetheart, Deana Vaye Palmer in August of 1946. Their first few years together were in Ada, Healdton, Oklahoma City, and Duncan. They finally settled in Perry, Oklahoma where they happily raised their two sons. After the youngest graduated from high school they relocated to Oklahoma City where they remained for the next fifty one years. Ray is predeceased by Deana, his cherished wife of 73 years who recently passed away on December 17, 2019, his parents and three sisters, Dixie, Lela, and Bea. He is survived by his sons David Palmer and his wife Dunri of Heston, Kansas; Don Palmer and his wife Cara of Tulsa; six grandchildren, Amy Lide, Carrie Fettke, Chase Palmer, Gracie Palmer, Lucas Palmer, and Cody Palmer. Also, three great grandchildren, Taylor Lide, Kolton Felix, and Kinedi Fettke. Ray had a long career in the oil and gas industry starting in the early 1950's working for Kirkpatrick Drilling. In 1957, he left Kirkpatrick to join newly formed Bonray Oil Company. Bonray grew successfully from contracting one drilling rig to fifteen and operating numerous oil and gas wells in western Oklahoma. Although he worked long hours and logged many miles on Oklahoma highways going from one well site to another, he always made time for his family and was back in time for every ballgame, wrestling match, and important school function his boys participated in. Ray retired from Bonray in 1992 and enjoyed his retirement years playing golf, entertaining his grandchildren, visiting with neighbors, walking his dogs, maintaining his prized yard, and most importantly to him, spending time with his wife. Ray deeply loved and was devoted to his wife Deana and was immensely proud of his two sons and their families. He was a much loved and respected gentleman who left behind wonderful memories for all who knew him. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 6th at 2 PM at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Ray's name to the Alzheimer's Association of Oklahoma City.
