Philpott, Raymond E. of OKC, was born Dec. 3, 1927 in Konawa, OK & passed away Jan. 16, 2010 after a short illness. He was a member of Mayridge Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father Arthur Philpott & his mother Opal Baker. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his daughter, Rae Ann Langley & husband Gary; his stepfather, Myrl Baker; one brother, Ernie Philpott & wife Pam; a sister, Jane Babbit & husband C.J.; & a host of family and friends. Raymond served on active duty in the U.S. Army Air Corps from Jan. 16, 1946 until Nov. 26, 1948. He served one year as a member of the Air Force Reserve, then rejoined the U.S. Army Air Corps & served on active duty until 1956. He enlisted in the Oklahoma Air National Guard in May 1956 and became Chief Master Sergeant before his retirement on May 24, 1986. Since his retirement, Chief Philpott has played a key role in the Will Rogers Air National Guard Base Retiree Association, also known as the "Gray Eagles". He helped organize the association & joined as Life Member #3. He served as secretary of the Board of Directors. Chief Philpott's awards & decorations include the Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Occupational Medal, National Defense Service Medal, AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon with eight devices, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with one device, Air Force Meritorious Service Award with five devices, & the NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon. He was a big fan of OU football, loved to swim, & play golf. He also loved his Lord & Savior & is in Heaven today with those family members who have gone before him. He will be greatly missed by his family & friends.
