Raymond Rigsby, Sr., Mr. Ray, RoadRay, passed away with his family by his side on February 21, 2026.
Raymond was born December 10, 1937 in Oklahoma City to John and Laverne Rigsby. Ray was raised in South OKC. When he was younger, his father was deployed in WWII. Needless to say, Ray grew up quickly and was soon working to help provide for his family. He began working a paper route as a young boy and later began as the manager at the paper delivery station. He attended U.S. Grant high School when it was first founded. School was held in a tent for part of the first year at Grant, which was a big change from the school buildings he was used to.
Ray married the love of his life, Loretta Doverspike, and they were blessed with 3 children.
Ray moved out to San Diego with his family in the early 50's for work. Ray became an aircraft mechanic for Rohr Aviation and worked hard to support his family. Ray was a wonderful husband and father. He loved his family dearly and never failed to let them know how important they were to him. In 1959 Ray and his family relocated to Oklahoma, and he began a career with Roadway trucking on July 8, 1959. He drove for Roadway for over 30 years. He drove a truck for Roadway over one million accident-free miles!
Ray was a Christian, calligrapher, craftsman, coach, and Sunday school teacher. He was Patron of the Year twice at Plaza Towers. Later in life, Ray started riding bicycles. Throughout his bike riding years, he rode over 27,000 miles!
Ray was a loving husband, father, Poppa and friend. He was involved with his grandkids’ school activities, sports, you name it, Ray was there. He had his "Poppa Van" a Chevy Astro and it was perfect for hauling around the grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his
Wife, Loretta Rigsby
Parents, John and Laverne Rigsby
Brother, Donald Rigsby

He is survived by his
