Rellan "Kaye" Glover passed peacefully Oct. 29, 2025. She was born April 19,1953 to Jesse and Leucille Glover in Topeka Kansas.
Kaye was labeled "mentally retarded" as a baby. She did not sit up within the expected time, never learned to crawl, was slow to learn to speak and meet the other infant milestones. Her Mom and Dad were encouraged to institutionalize her as she would negatively affect her siblings and prohibit normal family life. They looked at their beautiful blonde haired baby girl and decided they would raise her within the family.
Kaye became a centerpost of the family. Her birthday was right up there with Christmas as a Holiday. Her unique language became normal vocabulary for us. As a toddler if she wanted a light turned on, she'd snap her fingers and point at the light switch. We listened to "Red Red Robin comes Bob Bob bobbin along" played on her little record player a million times. If she became agitated when we teased her or if us kids were fussin' and upset her, she would wring her hands and say "Boo Boo Cat". That was her meanest thing. She didn't have a mean thought, was always loving and empathetic. Never showed temper, always accepting.
Kaye loved animals and had a rapport with them. She rescued a baby crow(Blackie), a baby squirrel (Topsy), and had a number of loved dogs and cats as pets. She rode her pony (Dusty) many miles through Rhapsody Heights neighborhood and a large part of Midwest City with her sister, Debby.
Kaye attended East Side Elementary and completed eighth grade at Jarman Jr. High. She was baptized at Soldier Creek Baptist Church, understood and believed that Jesus lived, died and was resurrected to atone for our sins and provide reconciliation with God. Kaye had an unquestioning faith and spoke of her love for Jesus. While residing at Sommerset she attended church services and enjoyed singing hymns she had memorized from childhood.
Kaye lost her father when she was only 23. She and her Mother were living at Lake Texoma and continued to live there until moving to Moore in 1981. Kaye was an avid fisherman and usually ended up catching the biggest fish. Her skill at casting wasn't the strongest but she could sure reel them in!
After they moved to Moore Kaye began working at the Work Activity Center. She made lots of friends and was active in all the events offered, especially Special Olympics. Kaye's work there involved packaging, preparing plants for sale, and completely assembling bicycles consigned through local businessess. She earned several employee of the month awards and was a loved member of the team from 1982 to 2003.
In 2003 Kaye and her Mother moved to Tulsa and lived at the Montereau in a very nice 2 bedroom apartment. She learned to operate the elevator to take her Chihuahua dog Pepper outside. She and Pepper were well received by the residents there. Jess, Jim and their families live in Tulsa and Kaye and her Mother's days were filled with family activities. They particularly enjoyed Jared's football games and the Holiday get togethers. Jesse would put up their Christmas tree immediately after Thanksgiving, just as Kaye liked.
Kaye lived in Tulsa until 2011 when she moved to South OKC to live with sister Debby and John. She would go the the barn every morning to take care of horses and help with chores. She was introduced to a whole new circle of friends, went to horseshows and on vacations at Lake Eufaula, Inks Lake, Fredericksburg, and Amarillo with her family. In order to keep up with this busier lifestyle, Kaye went to physical therapy for three months to increase her mobility and stability. Her goal was to be able to show her horse, Ticket, and she'd have to be able to jog in order to gait the horse for the judge. Kaye met her goal and became the State Foundation Quarter Horse Champion in 2012, 2013, 2014.
In that same time period in order to satisfy VA requirements regarding the pension she received through her Dad's service and to renew her military ID card it was necessary to provide an updated diagnosis of her disability. Dr. Seitsinger reviewed her diagnosis and identified Autism as her condition.
Kaye lived with Debby and John from 2011 to 2019 before moving to her own apartment in Sommerset Assisted Living. She enjoyed all the activities, particularly Bingo. She won quite often and was proud of the prizes. She liked having her own place, playing her DVD player with her extensive collection, interacting with the staff and residents. Sommerset permitted her to have her Cockatiel, Sunshine, in her room and she was happy in her new adventure. She settled in well, proud to be on her own.
Covid struck, turning everyone's lives upside down and Kaye was given two covid shots in 2021 and began experiencing hallucinations within a month. Sommerset protected the residents as much as humanly possible, but the isolation and inability to interact with loved ones and other residents took it's toll. When life returned to normal, Kaye was taken to a Neurologist who ordered tests and diagnosed her with advanced Alzheimers on Dec. 15, 2021. Kaye was moved to Progressive Care July 1, 2023.
Jesus said "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."
Kaye was a pure soul, she never held a grudge, never showed temper was always loving and accepting. She is seeing God.
