IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rhonda Kay
King
March 12, 1960 – March 2, 2024
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hope Pregnancy Center.
Rhonda K. King died on March 2, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. A devoted follower of Christ from a young age, she lived her life for the glory of God and is now with Jesus in heaven.
Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Rhonda graduated Moore High School in 1978, and attended the University of Oklahoma and the University of Central Oklahoma, eventually earning her Bachelor's Degree in Education. While going to school, Rhonda worked at the U.S. Postal Service and Federal Express. It was during this time that she met her husband of 35 years, Doyle King.
She taught math at Kingsgate Elementary School and Moore West Junior High School for 14 years before returning to school to earn her Master's degree. She then served as a Junior High Counselor at Central and Brink Junior High Schools until retiring. Throughout her life, Rhonda was passionate about mentoring, encouraging, and providing hope to all people, but she had a special place in her heart for children and teenagers.
Aside from her nearly 30 years serving kids in the Moore School District, Rhonda served as a youth Sunday School teacher at Brookwood Baptist Church, was a weekly volunteer at Hope Pregnancy Center, was an Oklahoma Court Appointed Special Advocate for children, and even served as a foster mother. Because of her strong relationship with Jesus, she positively impacted countless people during her lifetime.
In retirement, Rhonda continued to volunteer, but also shared her joyful spirit with friends, often playing pickleball, orchestrating game nights, and taking trips to explore new places. She most enjoyed spending time with her beloved family; for the past five years, she lived with her mother, Joann Beattie, and they shared an abundant life and beautiful friendship. She loved her younger sister, Tammy Beattie, and they were blessed to experience childhood through grandmotherhood together. At every possible opportunity, she traveled to Florida to visit her children, Joshua King, Michael King, and Bobbi King, and she absolutely spoiled her precious grandchildren, Abigail King, Fletcher King, and Ella Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald K. Beattie, and former husband, Doyle R. King.
