Obituary

Memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Richard Kolke will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the South Colonial Chapel of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 6934 S Western Ave, OKC, OK 73139.

Richard Dwane Kolke was born in Deloraine, Manitoba Canada on July 14th 1950. He passed on January 25th 2023 in Braggs, Oklahoma at the age of 72. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand Kolke and Herta Shrier, granddaughter Adeline Hillman, sister Patsy Otis and many dear friends.

In 1956, Richard's parents moved their family of 6 to Oklahoma City where he attended public school. His teachers often commented that "Richard needs to learn to keep his hands to himself." Richard obtained his first official job at the age of six at the public swimming pool. He would also perform belly busters off of the high-dive for the right price. He attended U.S Grant high school and was a member of the class of 1969. He purchased his first Harley Davidson motorcycle at the age of 12.

After a run-in with the law that earned him 36 months in "the rest home" (as he liked to call it) he began investing and working in night clubs. It was during this time he hosted music greats Waylon Jennings and David Allen Coe. He played poker with Cheech and Chong and was a body guard to country singer Charlie Rich.

He married his fourth wife, Dana Hart in 1979. They had two children Angela Miller and Amanda Kolke-Hillman. They resided in Mustang Oklahoma. Together they owned and managed several rental properties while he worked at the Firestone plant as a machinist.

Richard and Dana divorced in 1994 and he never remarried. After retiring, he volunteered at the community hospital until he moved out of the city to his home on 13 acres where he liked to host parties and reunions.

He spent his retirement years riding his Harley motorcycle, working on his small farm, playing with his grandkids, and traveling as much as he could. He recently completed his 40th year as a member of the Harley Owners Group.

He leaves behind his two daughters, Angela Miller and Amanda Kolke-Hillman. His siblings Dennis Kolke and Karen Sawyer. His grandchildren Adelle Miller, Jeremiah Miller, Annabell Miller, Jacob Miller, Keagan Hillman, Amelia Hillman, Allie Miller, Joseph Kolke Miller, Judah Miller, Alizabeth Miller and Alivia Miller. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many beloved friends.

His wit and humor will be missed.
