Obituary

Robbie Allyne (Garrett) Steward, age 90, died March 3, 2025 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born July 31, 1934 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; the oldest of two children born to Kenneth Bott and Myrl (Smith) Garrett. Robbie graduated from Mena High School in Mena, Arkansas in 1952 and attended the University of Houston studying acting and singing before marriage to Wendell O. Steward of Houston, Texas on September 10, 1954. They lived in Houston and Dallas before moving to Oklahoma City in 1970. As her husband was an active member of the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Associate, Robbie became a member of the association's Women's Council in 1976, was President in 1989 and continued as Director and active member for many years. For several years she was the Women's Council's State Representative to the National Association of Home Builders and served the national association as Director as a member of their Long Range Planning Committee. Robbie was awarded 1995 Woman of the Year by the Oklahoma State Homebuilders Association. She was an accomplished Accessory Decorator working with her husband's new homes and with individual homeowners. Robbie was a member of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary. She was a 35 year member of Chapel Hill Methodist Church and a past president of the United Methodist Women. She also served as a Stephens Minister. Robbie enjoyed her many International travels (her favorite Scotland), tennis at the Greens and sailing and racing on Lake Hefner with her husband at the Oklahoma City Boat Club. She was an avid knitter and bridge player and enjoyed as much time as possible with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews, and pets.

Robbie was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Elizabeth McClary in 2001 and by her husband Wendell in 2007. Robbie is survived by her son Wendell O. Steward Jr. and wife Janice of Edmond, brother, Joe Garrett of Moscow Idaho, grandchildren Robert Johnson, of Oklahoma City, Kenneth Johnson of Oklahoma City, Cody Steward and wife Tracey of Perryville Arkansas, Connor Steward of Gaston Oregon, Melissa McKenzie of Fort Collins Colorado and two great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Elway Steward of Perryville Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested instead that charitable contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Robbie's memory.
