Obituary

Robert “Bob” Lee Berry

Bob went to heaven on April 23rd, 2026 at the age of 99. He was born on December 26th, 1926 in Oklahoma City to Thelma and Lonnie Berry. He grew up in South Oklahoma City and Mustang, graduating from Capitol Hill High School early to join the Navy and serve in World War II. After the war, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.A. in English and a Master's in Education. While going to university, he married Dot Barnum, and they shared 65 years together before she passed away.

Bob was an enthusiastic humorist and consummate educator. He taught English and served as a counselor and administrator for many years at Southeast High School. He was also an administrator at Central Jr. High School for a few years before becoming the first principal at Mustang Middle School. He led Mustang Middle School to become the first middle school to be accredited by the state of Oklahoma. His impact as a caring and thoughtful leader was so strong he was still in touch with former students and teachers.

Bob enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and watching sports, especially OU sports- and was recently honored as the “Patriot of the Game” by OU. Upon retiring, Bob and Dot moved to Lake Texoma where they often hosted friends and family for fishing, games, good food, and fun. After his wife Dot’s passing, he enjoyed several years of companionship with Liz O'Neil, spending time at Lake Texhoma, Village on the Park, and traveling.

Bob loved his family and spending lots of time playing golf with his kids. He especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bob always had lots of stories and kind words for everyone he met, and he will be sorely missed.

Bob leaves behind a close family:

Son, Ron Berry, and his wife Kathy

Daughter, Bobbie, and her husband Dan Langford

Two granddaughters , Elizabeth and her husband, Josh Younger and Jennifer and her husband Mike Willis

And also three great grandsons , Jack Willis, Max Willis, and Emmett Younger.
