Obituary

Robert Leon "Bob" Grundy passed away Sunday, August 31st, 2025 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 84. He was born on October 21st, 1940 to the late Robert E. and Marie Grundy.

Bob spent his youth in Dallas and attended Woodrow Wilson High School before joining the Marine Corps in 1960. He remained enlisted until he was Honorably Discharged on March 30, 1965. In that time, he had become a husband and a father and wanted more time at home with his new and growing family. In his younger years, when he wasn't working, he spent much of his time watching, coaching or playing various sports. Many fond memories for his kids and their friends surrounded a ball field or a television set on a Sunday Afternoon.

As much as he loved sports, he had a tremendously soft heart for animals. His connection with his pets was an amazing thing to witness. His best days were spent watching football and throwing the ball to whatever pet happened to call his house home at the time. His retirement was made sweeter by these wonderful pets that provided companionship and love without fail.

A proud Marine, through and through, in his later years, Bob found joy and companionship at the Norman Veterans Center where he built friendships that meant the world to him. He could generally be found playing a game of dominoes or bingo. He loved to tell others that he had come in first place in the most recent a domino tournament held at the Veteran Center. When asked how much he'd won, he said "$7.00 and some bragging rights that I use whenever I can." His brothers-in-arms and the workers there will remember him for his humor and his friendship.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; Bob and Marie; his brother Doyle Grundy; his son Robert Leon Grundy, Jr; his grandson Brandon Leon Grundy and his granddaughter Michaela Ann Grundy.

He is survived by daughter Annette Bailey; daughter Vickie DeMario; son Jeffrey Grundy; daughter Lisa Busch and her husband Ken Busch; brother Gordon Grundy and his wife Linda Grundy and Sister in Law Pam Grundy. His memory will also live on with many precious grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of his Life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on September 11th, 2025 at Vondel L. Smith & Sons located at 6934 S. Western, OKC, OK 73139
