Robert (Bob) Lee Waller beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, mentor and friend lost his 21+ year battle with Parkinson's on March 30th, 2015. He was born to Lee and Polly Waller on November 18th, 1934 in Wichita Falls, TX.
He was raised on the farm in Temple, OK where he graduated High School from Temple High. He met the love of his life, Gwyn Beasley, at the age of 14 and they began dating when they were 16 and 14. Bob went to college at the University of Oklahoma and received a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering. He competed in Track, and was involved in ROTC, at the university. Bob and Gwyn were married on August 19th, 1956 and moved to Norman, Oklahoma where he had a year and a half of college left.
His oilfield career began in 1958 as a petroleum engineer with the exploration and production division of Pan American Petroleum Corporation in Ellinwood Kansas. Later he was transferred to Liberal Kansas then to Oklahoma City in 1964.
In 1967, he became associated with Ramsey Engineering Incorporated as a reservoir engineer, eventually becoming Vice President and co-owner of the firm before it was separated into two independent operations in 1982. At that time, Ramsey Property Management was incorporated and continued its long-term involvement in petroleum engineering and property management.
He is a member and past Chairman of the Oklahoma City Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers of AIME. He was also active with the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association (OIPA), and the Oklahoma City Geological Society. Mr. Waller was appointed as Oklahoma representative to the Enhanced Recovery Committee of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission. Mr. Waller has served on the Board of Directors of both the IPAA and the OIPA. He was a member of the Crude Oil Committee of the IPAA, and has served as President, Secretary and Committee Chairman for the OIPA. He was also a lifetime board member.
His hobbies included hunting, racing, photography, but most of all he loved to fly. He began flying in college and picked it back up in 1976. He and his wife flew on numerous trips together, sometimes taking family members or friends along.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father Polly and Lee Waller. Survived by his loving wife Gwyn, four children; Dee Nance, Kelly Waller, Bryan & wife Robin Waller, and Brad & wife Heather Waller and a sister Annette Keeter & husband Keith. He has ten grandchildren: Trisha & husband Jeff, Brianna & husband Thomas, Shaun & wife Ashlee, Danielle, Dustin, Brennen, Baylee, Michaela, Madison and Christopher. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren: Ashley, Dylan, Ryan, Jocelyn, Bentley, Ryleigh, Shade and Brady.
A memorial service to remember Robert will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the Vondel Smith North Colonial Chapel.
