IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Vard
Wilder
November 2, 1960 – January 19, 2025
Robert Vard Wilder, Jr., affectionately known as Robbie, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on November 2, 1960, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Robert Vard Wilder, Sr., and Edith Gail (Lawson) Wilder, Robbie grew up with a deep love for his family, a strong work ethic, and a gift for storytelling that brought joy to all who knew him.
A proud graduate of Southeast High School's Class of 1979, Robbie continued his family's legacy of public service by joining the Oklahoma City Fire Department in 1984. Despite lighthearted teasing from his Police Chief father and Police Officer sister for "getting in the wrong line," Robbie remained committed to serving and protecting others. During his
25-year career, he served at multiple stations, achieved the rank of Lieutenant, and concluded his service at Station #33, before retiring in 2009. Robbie's dedication earned the respect of his colleagues and the gratitude of the community he served.
On December 1, 1984, Robbie married the love of his life, Marie Catherine Alegria, his "California girl." Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories, celebrating 40 wonderful years of marriage. They raised two children, Robert III and Kate, who were the light of his life.
Robbie's passions reflected his lively spirit and enthusiasm for life. He loved playing his guitar and writing songs, exploring antique shops in search of treasures, and telling stories that captivated everyone who listened. His garage showcased his love for classic cars, fishing and golfing. Some of his fondest moments were spent with his best friends, Kevin
and Rick, enjoying their company and sharing endless laughter. He was happiest on adventures with his family—whether boating on Lake Texoma, snow skiing, or traveling to different destinations.
Robbie was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edith Wilder, whose values and love shaped the man he became. He leaves behind a devoted family who will forever hold him in their hearts: his beloved wife, Marie; his son, Robert Wilder III, and his wife, Amy; his daughter, Kate Hayes, and her husband, Ryan; and his treasured grandchildren, Henry and
Mia Hayes, who adored their "Pop Pop.
"He is also survived by his sister, Debbie Gruver, and her husband, Ron; his aunt, Shirley Anthony, and her husband, Don; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who feel blessed to have shared in his life.
Robbie's family invites all who knew and loved him to celebrate his remarkable life and the countless stories, kindness, and love he shared. A memorial service will be held at Westmoore Community Church, 11513 S Western Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73170, on January 28, 2025 at 10:00am.
Robbie's legacy of love, laughter, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
