Roger Sutterfield passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 29th, 2022 after spending a happy day together with his family. Roger was born on March 9th, 1949 to Joyce and JD Sutterfield in Arkansas. His childhood and adolescent years were spent in Wichita where he also met his wife Lora Tangney. They were married and had two children, Carey (son, 53) and Casey (daughter, 49). Roger and Lora made a life in Woodward, Oklahoma where Roger worked in the oilfield. He worked for N&W Service and equipment and later owned his own business, Repair Inc. He also worked for many years at the Woodward Iodine Plant.
Later, Roger and Lora moved to the city to live with their daughter and grandchildren. Roger worked for a division of Chesapeake oil until his retirement. In his free time, Roger enjoyed tinkering, gardening and spoiling his animals. Roger was often found in the backyard tending to his many plants or at his workstation starting a new project. Roger was never idle and loved to work with his hands. He, however, did make time to watch a variety of John Wayne movies, specifically Stagecoach was a much beloved favorite. Roger was deeply devoted to family and helped support his daughter and grandchildren through difficult times when his son in law died young. He was also caretaker for his wife Lora during her last years of life while battling many chronic diseases and disability. His endless kindness and devotion to family will be a lasting tribute to the life he led. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Joyce and JD Sutterfield, wife, Lora, and Brother, Jim and son-in-law, Ryan Peters. Roger is survived by his brother Joe Sutterfield, his son, Carey Sutterfield and daughter in law, Darci Sutterfield, Daughter: Casey Markland and son-in-law John Markland, and Grandchildren: Theron Sutterfield, Dace Peters, Oakley and Luke Haak.
