Ronald Walter Kriesel, 87 years old, was born April 3, 1933, and died April 16, 2020. He was born to Alfred and Ella Kriesel in Berlin, Wisconsin.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 60 years, Deanna Kriesel; his son, Nathan (Amber) Kriesel; son Pastor Bobby (Regina) Washington; 5 grand children: Kaley, Zoe, and Sophie Kriesel; Paige and Stewart (Kazia) Washington; 2 great grandchildren: Krystal & Jeriya Washington; brother Duane (Alberta) Kriesel; brother-in-law Lanny ( Joyce) Shorts.
Ron grew up on a farm in Wisconsin. He later served in the Navy and was an antisubmarine helicopter crewman and airborne sonar operator. After serving in the Navy, he became a "Group Supervisor" in a California youth prison and taught more than 20 years at every level from Kindergarten to College. He completed a Master of Science in Library Science and was District Librarian for over 11 school libraries and later became Head Librarian of Gulf Coast Bible College/ Mid-America Bible College/Mid-America Christian University for 17 years. He was one of the first computer operators (1960). He published an "Internet Research Strategies" website that was recognized by universities in America, England, Australia, France, and Italy.
Ron served three years as president of the Southern California Area of Christian Educators Association International (CEAI). He and Deanna later founded and directed three CEAI chapters in three states. They also founded a musical group called the "Neftones" that traveled 11 years across America representing CEAI (formerly called National Educators Fellowship) and produced a 15-minute weekly radio program for CEAI for 2 years. He was a Gideon for 9 years and served as President and Chaplain for the Moore Camp of Gideon, sharing God's Word.
Raised in the Lutheran church, Ron loved the Lord and later met Deanna in the Church of God. In his late twenties, Ron left the church, even experimenting with 3 different cults in 7 years, before rededicating his life to Christ and the church. He has met with believers from all backgrounds including: Evangelical Brethren, African Methodist Episcopal, Nazarene, Baptist, and Evangelical free. Ron supported many missions and traveled worldwide including Africa, Brazil, Honduras, and Israel. He particularly enjoyed his work with Deanna's Kids School in Kiamosi, Kenya. Ron loved the Lord while living and is with Him today.
