IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roy Scotty
Hurt
January 21, 1943 – December 18, 2023
Roy "Scott" Hurt of Oklahoma City passed away Monday, December 18th, 2023 at Mercy Health Center.
Scott was born in Durant, Oklahoma on January 21, 1943 to Hamble and Una Hurt. Scott was raised around Wapanucka and Tishomingo along with his brother and sisters. When he was in his senior year of high school, Scott moved to Oklahoma City to live with his father, and he graduated from Classen Original in 1960.
Scott met the love of his life, Margaret Cain, and they married on June 25, 1971. Scott and Margaret were blessed with two sons, Scott and Kyle, and Scott loved being a husband, father and grandfather. He provided anything his family needed and worked very hard to make that possible.
Scott served in the Army National Guard in the early 70's and was honorably discharged in 1972. A few years later, Scott began working for Traffic Supply Inc. in the road and highway safety industry and later for The Flasher Company, where he eventually became a partner and later owned the company. Scott sold the company in 1999 and was able to spend more time with family as well as the fairways. Scott was an avid golfer and would play anywhere – anytime. He had a regular group of work buddies he golfed with and he traveled the state and even played at numerous courses across the U.S. If he wasn't golfing you would often find him spending time at their former house in Tishomingo, Ok - which could also be at the Tish golf course. He loved to spend time with friends and family at the house in Tish along with the grandkids when they came along. Sitting on the back porch watching the falls or setting up for a July 4th show were some of his favorite things to do there.
Scott will always be remembered for his kind heart, incredible patience, his knowledge and sensibility about many topics along with a curiosity and ability to ask questions on topics he wanted to know more about, and finally his sayings - Scott ( Dad) would have a saying for just about any situation. Scott will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the mark he made on this earth.
