Obituary

Ruby Kate (Hayes) Price went home to her heavenly Father on Oct. 20, 2026, at the age of 101. She was born on Sept. 14, 1925, to Lola Mae and William Ernest Hayes in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. She graduated from Pauls Valley High School in 1943. After moving with her family to Oklahoma City, Ruby began working in retail.

She married her husband of 34 years, Charles G. Price Jr., on May 15, 1954. They had one daughter, Janice Mae, in 1957. Ruby worked at John A. Brown department store in Capitol Hill until 1974 and at Langston’s Western Wear from 1978 to 2020, when she retired after 41½ years, at the age of 95.

Ruby was a faithful member of Southwest Baptist Church and loved going to church and being with her church family. Ruby was a wonderful example of Christian faith to all who met her and reflected God’s love beautifully in everything she did. She was an example of quiet servanthood, devoting herself to the needs of others. She was also an avid reader and loved all kinds of word puzzles.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Lola; her husband, Charles; her sisters, Edna Bell Jackson and Bobbie June Hood; her brother, William Hendrix Hayes; and her son-in-law, Marlin Ray Dahlke.

She is survived by her devoted family, including her daughter, Janice Dahlke; her two grandsons, Eric Dahlke and wife Kari, and Christopher Dahlke; two great-granddaughters, Brooklynn and Addison Dahlke; brothers Wayne Hayes and Danny Hayes, and sisters-in-law Peggy and Beth; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Next to her faith, her family was her priority in life. She will be dearly missed, and her memory will live forever in our hearts.
