Obituary

Ruby Fern Lawrence Stanfill was born October 16, 1930 in Timbo, Arkansas to Jesse and Vera (Franks) Lawrence. A graduate of the Capitol Hill High School class of '49, Ruby was employed by Tinker Air Force Base where she met and married Chester E. Stanfill. Their three children were born in Oklahoma City before the family moved to Dayton, Ohio and Potomac, Maryland, before settling in Lebanon, Illinois in 1965. Ruby began her career in loss prevention at May Department stores in 1969 and later returned to Oklahoma City in 1975, and began working for Target and General Motors. She retired as the "Loss Prevention Manager" at T-44 Target in Oklahoma City. After retiring, she took over her family's rental properties until her death. She befriended the 1st Indian Church of the Nazarene on S. Lee Street, as well as many of her tenants. She kept many fed, clothed, and provided transportation. Ruby was truly a selfless person and had much compassion and empathy for those less fortunate. She was a wonderful, generous mother and landlord, who always saw the best in everyone she met. We are truly blessed to have had her as our mother, grandmother and friend.
