Hubbard
September 16, 1940 – October 24, 2025
Russell Gerald Hubbard, a longtime resident of Oklahoma City, was born on September 16, 1940 to Opal (Nance) Hubbard and Milton Hubbard in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was the first of four children.
After graduating from high school, Russell was honored to serve his country as a member of the United States Army from August 1st, 1958 until July 17th, 1961. He was stationed overseas in Berlin, Germany at McNair Barracks as part of Defenders of Freedom.
Upon his return, he met and married the love of his life, Helen Kay (Vorse) Hubbard. Together, they celebrated 60 years of marriage before Helen's passing in January of 2023.
Russell has worked a variety of jobs. He has been a welder, worked for Brinks, was a meter reader for the gas company, and served his community as a firefighter from 1966-1997. He was proud to be a member of the brotherhood of Firefighters. One of his proudest moments as a firefighter was when he helped rescue a woman from the rubble following the A.P. Murrah Building bombing. His most important role was being a great girl dad to his five daughters.
Russell enjoyed traveling. He has been to the East and West Coast, Germany, Greece, England, France, Canada, and Holland, as well as traveling to different states. He enjoyed outdoor activities in his younger days such as tennis, archery, and scuba diving, was an avid hunter and fisherman, liked tinkering with car engines, and loved spending time with his daughters and grandkids. He leaves a legacy of strength, courage, and devotion.

Daughter ~ Laura Hubbard of Moore, Oklahoma
Six Grandchildren ~ Lindsay Sharp and her husband, Aaron; Chelsea Nordstrom, Courtney Gunn and her husband, Chris; Alexander Southern and his wife, Kara; Chloe Deilami, and Julia Cobb and wife, Kiernan
Seven Great Grandchildren ~ Olivia, Gauge, Emily, Kegan, Russell, Gracie, and Kaia
Plus one great-great granddaughter, Harlow
He will be remembered by his sister Carol Hubbard of Edmonds, Washington
As well as nieces, nephews, family, friends, and fellow firefighters
