Ruth Lavaun Chambers

March 16, 1938 ~ September 22, 2024

Ruth Lavaun Chambers went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the age of 88. The daughter of Cecil and Marie (Courtwright) Hickman, Ruth was born on March 16, 1936 in Perkins, Oklahoma. Ruth grew up attending Moore Public Schools and later in 1954, Ruth graduated from Moore High School. Shortly after graduating high school, Ruth began working as a secretary for the Santa Fe Railroad office. It was there that she met a handsome young man by the name of Robert "Bob" Chambers. They were united in marriage in 1959 and together celebrated sharing 57 years together before Bob's passing in 2017. This union of marriage was blessed with three sons: Robert, David and Michael. Ruth will be fondly remembered as a loving Christian woman. She loved and cared deeply for her family and she will be held close to our hearts each day.

She was preceded in death by her:

Parents, Cecil & Marie Hickman;

Husband of 57 years, Bob Chambers;

Son, Michael Chambers,

Brother, Bill Hickman;

Sisters: Lodeen, Virginia, and Ramona.

She leaves behind her loving family:

Son, Robert Chambers of Moore, Oklahoma;

Son, David Chambers of Middletown, Pennsylvania;

Granddaughter: Marie Chambers;

Grandsons: Scott Chambers and Robert M. Chambers;

Brother, A.J. Hickman;

Several nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as many friends.

Viewing will be held 4-8 PM Thursday with family greeting friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Vondel Smith & Son Mortuary, 6934 S Western Ave, OKC, OK 73139. Graveside service to celebrate and honor her life will be held 10:00 AM Friday, September 27, 2024 at Retshaven Cemetery. Friends may leave condolences for the family at www.vondelsmithmotuary.com
