Ruth Schmidt Godsy was born on 4/18/1922 and passed on 3/5/2024 just days away from her 102nd birthday. She was born in and remained in Oklahoma City her entire life. Ruth graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1940 and married her high school sweetheart, Don Godsy, on Sept. 7, 1940. Don and Ruthie were married for 64 years before his passing. In her early years Ruth worked at Schmidt Brothers Baking Co. owned by her parents. In her later years she was the principal's secretary at 3 different OKC elementary schools. Ruth enjoyed trips to Branson, to the Philharmonic and Broadway shows, and going out to eat. She belonged to Kappa Kappa Iota, an educational sorority, and attended the Nouveau Livre Book Club. "Mother" Ruth was a quiet but strong woman who loved her only child and daughter with all her heart. This past year she also came to love her caregiver Amy Gamble. Ruth was pre-deceased by her husband, Don, in 2004, her parents, Frank and Sylvia Schmidt, brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Sue Schmidt, nephews, BJ and Fred Schmidt, Don's parents, Dave and Martha Godsy, brothers-in-law, Dave and Doss Godsy, many distant relatives, and friends. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Connie Godsy, niece, Louise Schmidt, friends she has made along the way, and 3 schnauzers.
