Sallie Aline Baughman, 96, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, December 29, 2024. Sallie was born in Oklahoma City on January 13, 1928 to Archie Doss and Maud Mahala (Sipes) Parker.
1946 Graduate of Capitol Hill High School, at the age of 17 Sallie began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone while she was still attending high school, she would leave class at 12 noon and would work part time as an accounting clerk, after graduating she continued at SWBT until the birth of her children. She had pledged to God that if she was blessed with children she would not work & she would devote herself to raising her children in a Christ centered home.
Sallie married the love of her life Robert W. Baughman at her parents' home on August 17, 1946, shortly after Bob returned from World War II.
The family moved several times as Bob received promotions, they had lived in Ardmore, Norman, Enid, Lawton finally back to Oklahoma City, where they remained the rest of their lives. Sallie was Past President of the Prairie Queen Grade School PTA 67-68, Mother of the Year at Shartel Church of God. Sallie was well known for her baking skills & blessed many with pies & cakes when she would pay a visit, she was Oklahoma State Fair Champion Pie Baker in 1994 & had received numerous Blue Ribbons for her cakes, pies, confections & pastries.
A faithful follower of Christ Sallie served in many ministries of her church & for many years taught the 6 year old girls Sunday School Class at Shartel Church of God.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband Bob; 3 sisters Marie Spears, Blanche Holt & Wanda Dunkin.
Sallie is survived by her children Bobby Baughman and wife Linda; Janice Bruce and husband Robert; Four Grandchildren, Ten great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the tender and loving care provided to our mother by the staff at Legends at Rivendell and we are most thankful for Stephenie Buchanan and the special bond she developed with our mom during her stay.
