Dr. Sam A. Wheeler went to be with Jesus on Friday, November 13, 2009 at the age of 66. He was born July 19, 1943 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to his parents, Lewis Hurst and Virginia Katherine (Huffman) Wheeler. Sam honorably served his country in the United States Army Reserve. A resident of the Oklahoma City area for the past 45 years, Sam dedicated his life to providing excellent health care for the community. Lovingly known to his patients as "Doc," Sam served others through his family medical practice. Hardworking and adventurous from a young age, Sam pursued life with zest and approached his endeavors wholeheartedly from his schooling, medical practice, playing sports, serving his church and community and especially loving his family. Knowing Sam made you a better person.

Brothers: Stephen H. Wheeler and his wife, Sue of Hinesville, Georgia and Stanley L. Wheeler and his wife, Sharon of Ponca City, Oklahoma;
Step-father, Bill Swaim of Ponca City, Oklahoma;
7 grandchildren.
