Sedric "Wayne" Smith of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away on December 6, 2021, at the age of 99 years and 8 months. He was born April 9, 1922, in Bryan County, Oklahoma to Marion W and Bertha L Smith. Survived by his wife Juanita Marie Wilson Smith, one brother, Joel Keith Smith (Cheri) children Don A Smith (Jan), Loyd H Smith (Irene) and Gary W Smith (Arlene), eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one Uncle, Billy Van Steward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jonita Beaty Smith, an infant son James Doyle Smith, two sisters, Beryl Maxine Green and Imogene South and a brother, Titus Gene Smith.
Wayne entered the United States Army in October 1942 and served as a combat medic until October 1945 when he was honorably discharged, after serving in European-African, Middle Eastern Theater where he received a Good Conduct Metal and a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Clusters.
Thirty-six of Wayne's working years were spent at Tinker Air Force Base as a Parts Expeditor, retiring in 1988. Prior to TAFB he spent a short time with Gaylord Dairy.
Also, he was a loyal member of Southern Oaks United Pentecostal Church and served in various positions. His favorite hymns were "Had It Not Been" and "Because He Lives".
His family and friends will always remember him as being a loving, kind, giving and loyal person. He loved being with family, friends and others sharing stories and telling jokes.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Southern Oaks United Pentecostal Church. Interment will be at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
