IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon Lynette
Hightower
July 7, 1957 – September 16, 2023
After a rapid return of her leukemia, Sharon Lynette Hightower passed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 16, 2023. As she passed she was surrounded by her family as they held her hands, praying and singing hymns. Those who loved her will miss her greatly but understand she is in a better place.
Sharon was born on July 7, 1957 in San Bernadino, California to Vernon and Marie Riehl. Her family moved to Texas some time later and she graduated from Deer Park High School where she loved academics (especially math) and tennis. She attended the University of Houston and Texas Tech, majoring in pharmacology and microbiology.
She met Ronny Hightower on a ski trip with other kids from church and they were married on October 1, 1977. They have enjoyed 45 years of happy marriage.
Sharon had various occupations in addition to her homemaking and child raising. She finally settled on real estate in 1995, winning many awards for real estate sales and helped many people find just the right home. She was deeply involved in Sweet Adelines International for over 40 years, where she made lifelong friends and was able to sing her heart out, which she absolutely loved to do. Her biggest passion was teaching others about Christ and she was dedicated daily to this by way of teaching in the school age classes at church continuously, teaching ladies Bible class, and hosting and organizing summer Bible camp. She worked diligently with her hands in all she did - she sewed, painted, wrote, designed, invented, organized and orchestrated for numerous events over her entire life. She was a hard worker and never had a complaint on her lips.
Sharon is survived by her parents Vernon and Marie Riehl; her husband Ronny; her daughter Renee and her husband Jason; son Rick and his wife Kim; grandchildren Blaine, Grace, Callie, David, Campbell, Lily and Miller, great grandchild Zachery; sister Susan and her husband Rick; sister Kathryn; and many nieces and nephews.
