Obituary

Upon Sharon's request there will be no public ceremonies. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the charity of the donor's choice

Sharon Dark Huffman Reynolds was born on September 16, 1945 in Hobart, Oklahoma to James Howard Dark and Otha Hazel (Wilson) Dark. The family spent their early years in Hobart before relocating briefly to Wichita Falls, TX when Sharon was 13. The family then settled in Oklahoma City, which has been 'home' ever since. A 1963 graduate of U.S. Grant High School, Sharon immediately joined the workforce in various administrative positions, first with the State of Oklahoma and then at the original Mathis Brothers Furniture on Western before accepting a job with ladies' wear wholesaler Al. Schweitzer Inc. She began her career at Schweitzer as a secretary, and was later promoted to office manager before eventually purchasing the company. After retirement, Sharon enjoyed working outside and tending to her beautiful flowers before serious health concerns began to take a high toll on her strength and mobility. In 1977, Sharon married Steve Huffman and was blessed to become stepmother to Jessica Gamble, to whom she remained very close and loved as her own throughout her life. Sharon married Jerry Reynolds in 2005, and was blessed to have spent many happy retirement years together until Jerry's death in 2013.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Otha Dark; her husband, Jerry Reynolds; her brother, Jimmie Dark; and her sister, Shirley Dark. She is survived by her 'little sister,' Teri Dark Hunter and husband Jim; stepdaughter Jessica Gamble; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

A beautiful and vivacious redhead with big brown eyes and a big heart, Sharon held a deep and abiding love for her family – most of whom were waiting for her arrival at Heaven's gate.

In accordance with Sharon's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Those who wish to do so may leave an online remembrance for the family at www.vondelsmithmortuary.com or through www.legacy.com.
