Shawn Cottle, of Oklahoma City, passed away February 5th, 2022. Shawn was born September 14, 1976, in Fresno, California, to John Cottle and Suzanne Nichols. Later, Suzanne would meet and eventually marry Bob Raub, who took Shawn in as his own son and raised him in Mount Clemens, Michigan. As a young boy, Shawn enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, lacrosse, and ice hockey from the water dock behind his house. He graduated in 1994 from L'Anse Creuse high School in Macomb, MI.

After high school, Shawn enlisted in the Air Force and would later join the Air National Guard to allow him to pursue his college dreams. While serving in the Air National Guard, Shawn attended the University of Oklahoma and became a Fraternity member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He was honorably discharged as Senior Airman after 7 years of service to his country and would go on to graduate OU in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in Sociology. His desire to achieve an MBA degree became a reality in 2020, when he graduated from Mid-America Christian University with honors.

Right before college graduation, Shawn met the love of his life, Karlyn Smith, whom he wed on April 4, 2004 in Ft. Worth, TX. They would later welcome 3 healthy boys, Isaac, Clive, and Baron. Shawn worked in several industries within the DFW area before relocating back to OKC to create a better work life balance for his family. Shawn and Karlyn relocated to OKC in 2016, and he took a job working for Tinker Federal Credit Union as the VP/Regional Director of Operations. Shawn worked hard to provide for his family and was a devoted husband and loving father. Shawn and Karlyn focused on being the best parents to their sons and Shawn's focus was to make sure they were safe and always taken care of. Some of their best memories together were made headed to Broken Bow Lake, trips to Disney and the Daddy/Son trips with each son during the final two years of his life.

Some of Shawn's favorite things to do outside of family life and work were going hunting with his Father-in-law James Maynor in Kerrville, TX every Thanksgiving as well as going golfing with Karlyn and his best friends.

Shawn will always be remembered for his hole-in-one on a par 4 (aka Albatross or a Double Eagle), his stellar golf drive, his deep fascination for all things Big Foot related, his goofy Dad jokes, his tough exterior, his molten lava love for his 3 beautiful boys and any dog that he has ever owned.
