Memorial Graveside: 2PM Sat. Sept. 19, 2015 Location: Blanchard Cemetery - Blanchard, OK

Sherri, 55, moved peacefully from this life into the arms of her Lord, surrounded by her family on Saturday. Sherri was born in Coalgate, OK to James & Marie Davenport. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1977. Not long after graduation she started working as a medical assistant at Engles Medical Clinic in Capitol Hill and shortly after her time there she began working at Southwestern Bell. She was with SWB for more than 20 years. In the years after that she was an administrative assistant for the FAA, Sam Noble Museum, and most recently Middleberg Public School in Blanchard. In 1997 Sherri married her true love, Freddie W. Shipman in Choctaw, OK and shared 5 years of marriage until his passing in 2002. Sherri was a devout member at Walnut Valley Primitive Baptist Church in Blanchard and attended there for over 30 years. In her spare time Sherri enjoyed going on family vacations, which they did often, and she enjoyed cooking, but more than anything just loved spending time with her family. Sherri had a great love for people and especially her family. She had a tremendous sense of humor, well-known laugh & always brought joy, comfort & encouragement to all around her. Sherri was preceded in death by her father, husband and brother James Sonny Davenport. She is survived by her mother, Marie Davenport of Blanchard, sister Deborah DeShields of Blanchard, brother Billy D. Davenport & his wife Judith of Earlsboro, niece Denise Shepherd of Blanchard & her children Katrina Holliday-Shipman (Sherri raised Katrina in her home, she was a like a daughter to her) & Olivia Holliday.
