July 28, 1948 – June 21, 2015
Sherrie, 66, was called to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday. She was born in Belleville, IL to Janey & Ben H. Spencer, Sr. Sherrie's father was in the Air Force and they lived in many different locations but made a home base in Midwest City. She graduated Midwest City High School in 1966. Sherrie earned a Bachelor of Music, specializing in piano performance in 1970 from OBU. On June 14, 1970, Sherrie married her love, John Howard Ferguson & they shared 45 years of marriage, raising their children. The family resided in Enid, OK from 1970-1993 before moving to Kansas City, MO from 1993-2001. Their last move was to the OKC area. Sherrie served the Lord, her family and others with all of her heart, talents, and time. She served as secretary in the Baptist church for many years. Sherrie was a longtime member of Shields Blvd Baptist Church. She enjoyed being a church pianist for over 40 years in numerous churches and also served as a Sunday school teacher. In her spare time, Sherrie enjoyed gardening, teaching piano, & shopping but her greatest times were those spent with her family and grandkids. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and doting grandmother who will be deeply missed. Preceded in death by her father. She leaves behind her loving husband, John H. Ferguson; son, Aaron Ferguson & wife, Amy; daughter, Angie Baird & husband, Jason; mother, Janey Spencer; brother, Ben Spencer, Jr.; grandchildren: AJ, Austin, Aiden & Anna Beth Ferguson and Emma & Lindsey Baird; and many other family & friends. Viewing at the funeral home will be 4-8 PM Wednesday with the family present 6-8 PM. Services to celebrate her life will be 2:00 PM Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Capitol Hill Baptist Church 304 SW 134th St. OKC, OK with burial following at Heritage Burial Park at South Lakes. Memorials may be made to Shields Blvd. Baptist Church 3700 S. Shields Blvd. OKc, OK 73129
