Sonja Faye Paulley, beloved wife, devoted mother, doting grandmother and loyal friend, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the age of 74. The daughter of Millard Andrew and Edith Rucker (Kemlock), Sonja was born on July 14, 1949 in Beckley, West Virginia. Sonja grew up attending Beckley, West Virginia schools and later in 1968 graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. After graduation, Sonja began a career working in education. Sonja was introduced to a handsome young man by the name of George Lee Paulley and the two fell in love. They were united in holy matrimony on June 29, 1974 at the Little Valley Baptist Church in Sandbranch, West Virginia; they were married for 49 years. This union of marriage was blessed with a daughter, Karla Faye Boyster and Jennifer Paulley-Micue. Being a wife and mother was natural for this hardworking woman. For more than 30 years, Sonja worked at the Oklahoma Public Schools, as a teacher assistant until her retirement. Sonja enjoyed worshipping at Mayridge Baptist Church where she an active member for over 20 years. Nothing was as important to her as spending time with her family, especially her 5 grandkids and her precious dog, Izzy. Sonja will be remembered as a woman of great faith and she will be deeply missed.

Sonja was preceded in death by her parents, Millard & Edith Rucker; 2 Brothers, Terry & Eddie Rucker; 2 Sisters: Cathy Woods & Debbie Rucker. Sonja is survived by her husband, George Lee Paulley of 49 years; daughter, Karla Faye Boyster and her husband, Tim; daughter, Jennifer Paulley-Micue and her husband, Tony; brother,Thomas Rucker; sisters, Carol Hienamen and Husband, Bob, Vicky Allen and Husband Fred; Edith McCommas; Five Grandchildren: Kaden, Zy, Terra, Roland, and Truett; her faithful dog, Izzy; As well as many extended family members and friends.

A funeral service to celebrate Sonja's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 30, 2023 at Mayridge Baptist Church with burial following at Heritage Burial Park at Southlakes in Oklahoma City.
