Suzanne Kaye "Susan" Woodruff, 62, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 11, 2012. She was born February 19, 1950 in Hamilton, Ohio. She was active in 4-H, and won many ribbons at the state fair for her skilled sewing. She graduated from William Henry Harrison High School, in Harrison, Ohio - Class of 1968. She worked for a physician for a few years before marrying in 1971. She then moved to Biloxi, Mississippi where her husband was stationed in the Air Force. There they started their family before settling in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in July 1977.
Suzanne is survived by her childhood friend and husband of 40 years, Michael Douglas Woodruff, as well as her four daughters: Melissa Diane Lester-Latham of Tulsa, OK; Suzanne Renee "Suzy" Bussert and her husband, Jason, of Edmond, OK; Heidi Elizabeth Teague and her husband, Shawn, of Oklahoma City, OK; and Kristin Nicole Woodruff also of Oklahoma City, OK; her ten grandchildren: Derek, Christine, Braden, Lauren, Rachel, Ryan, Sonny, Shelby, Samuel, and Benjamin. She is also survived by her parents Harlan and Anna Mae Viel; her sister Mary Lou Grubbs; as well as her nephews: Bryan and Jared Grubbs, all of Harrison, OH. She is preceded in death by her nephew, Chad Harlan Grubbs.
Suzanne was a very talented seamstress who made her children's clothing, Halloween costumes, Christmas stockings, and countless other items. She also enjoyed sewing for others, creating crafts to decorate her home as well as to take to craft shows. She altered clothing, including numerous prom and wedding dresses and even a dress for a Miss Oklahoma! She also loved gardening, and enjoyed baking and cooking dinner for her family. She enjoyed attending Nascar races at Texas Motor Speedway, Indy and Brickyard races, in Indianapolis, as well as OU Football games in Norman, OK. She and her husband were very active in the Sports Car Club of America for many years, where she helped with timing and scoring and was a regional officer in the club. Suzanne was a long time employee of Hobby Lobby's fabric department, as well as a para-professional with special education and a teacher's assistant in the Moore Public School district since 2000, and retired in May 2012.
We would like to thank the countless doctors, nurses, and medical professionals from Oklahoma Heart Hospital South, Midwest City Regional Medical Center, and Hospice Quality Care in Midwest City that cared for our wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt over these past 6 weeks. We thank God for this precious time together as a family, and for each day we had with Suzanne. She is well loved and will be greatly missed by many.
