Tawanna Lucille (Sanford) Barrett, of Oklahoma City, was called to her heavenly home on February 21, 2023. She was born on April 27, 1946 in Oklahoma City, OK to Wesley and Geneva (Slate) Sanford. Tawanna attended Southeast High School and was a member of the 1964 graduating class. She spent over ten years working Accounts Receivable at the family business, Stewart & Wood Drug. Tawanna earned her CNA certification from Francis Tuttle in Oklahoma City and volunteered with Hospice of Oklahoma City. In later years, Tawanna worked at the Fantastic Sams Regional office with her late husband.
Tawanna is preceded in death by her husband, Russell Barrett; parents, Wesley & Geneva Sanford; sister, Jackie Bryen; and brother, Wesley Sanford Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Jamie Willis (Greg) of Choctaw, Ok., Gina Campbell (Geoff) of Dallas, TX.; step-son, Steve Barrett (Beth) of Wichita, KS.; step-daughters, Tammy Evans (David) of Tulsa, Ok., and PJ Barrett, Wichita, KS; Grandchildren, Brendon Willis (Caitlin), Bethany Dumbleton (Zach), Hannah Thun (Hans), Liam and Luke Campbell; step-grandchildren, Branson and Madison Evans, Grace Barrett, Matthew & Michael Tomblin; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends that were dear to her heart.
Tawanna attended Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City, which is where she met her late husband, Russ. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, baking, and spoiling her dog. She was an avid OU football and Oklahoma City Thunder fan. Tawanna cherished her dear high school friends and their monthly lunches, and trips to Branson. Out of her accomplishments, Tawanna was most proud of her family, who she loved dearly.
