Obituary

張秋琴 ,Thi Lai Hua, was born in Saigon, Vietnam in 1935. She had two older brothers, deceased, and one younger sister, still in Vietnam. She was married in 1952 to 許紹賢, Lang Hua, and together had 9 children. The family moved to Buon Ma Thuot, Vietnam where they operated a successful commodity store. Beginning in 1978, the family began their journey to the United States via Pulau Bidong Island, Malyasia. Arriving in Charlotte, NC in 1979, the family eventually moved to Oklahoma City, which soon became "home". In Oklahoma, Lai supported her family by keeping a home and raising her children and grandchildren. She also played a role in raising other children around the community. Lai enjoyed cooking and always had a meal ready for anyone who stopped by. Her favorite foods were durian fruit, dim sum (crispy taro puffs and chicken feet), and steamed fish. She also enjoyed singing karaoke, dancing, talking on the phone and shopping. Lai traveled to many parts of the world. She's visited many states in the US and various countries throughout Asia and Europe. She's made several trips to Australia as well.
