Dr. Thomas J. Carlile, beloved family doctor in Moore and Del City for fifty-one years, passed away on December 4, 2024.
Born in Coweta, Oklahoma to Clarence George (Olyn) and Sallie Beth Carlile on August 30, 1940, he grew up in Oklahoma City, graduating from Capitol Hill High School. He graduated from Central State College and the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. He returned to Oklahoma City to intern at Hillcrest Hospital.
Governor George Nigh appointed him to the Oklahoma College of Osteopathic Medicine board of regents which went on to become Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he served from 1980-1988. Dr. Carlile also served as president of the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association, chief of staff at Hillcrest Hospital and regent for South Oklahoma City Junior College. In 2004, Dr. Carlile was honored as "Doctor of the Year" by the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association.
As a member of the Cherokee tribe, Tom researched Cherokee history and traced his roots back to his family members who came to Oklahoma during the Trail of Tears. He was awarded the AARP Elder Honor in 2022.
Dr. Carlile is survived by his wife, Glenda and daughters Kim and husband Jay Williamson, Stacey and husband Rob Shofner. Grandchildren Ryane Weinert, Cooper Williamson, Jackson and Olivia Shofner and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tennell, daughter Margaret and grandson Jayson.

Viewing and visitation will be held 12-8 PM Sunday, December 15th, 2024 with the family present to greet friends 1-3 PM at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 6934 S Western Ave, OKC, OK 73139. A celebration of "A Life Well Lived"' will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Shartel Church of God, 11600 S. Western Ave. OKC, OK 73170.
