Our beloved son, husband, father , grandfather, brother & friend, Timothy Lynn Hanshew departed this world January 8, 2013. He was born November 6, 1951 in Larned, Kansas to Dudley & Kathryn Hanshew. In 1957, the family moved to Ponca City Oklahoma where Tim attended elementary school then moving to Oklahoma City in 1963 where he attended Central Junior High School & Putnam City High School. He played football, basketball and baseball in little league and through junior high and at age 12 began his life-long obsession with the game of golf. Tim was a natural athlete and excelled at many sports but was an exceptional golfer. He was a member of his high school golf team where he was honored as golfer of the year. He then went on to compete on the varsity golf team at The Central State University and went on to win many golf championships including the one which gave him much pride, the Oklahoma City Fourball. After playing in his first Professional Golf Tournament a tragic accident and near death in 1975 ended his dream of playing on the Professional Golf Tour. After years of therapy and still partially paralyzed on his left side he battled back to amazingly shooting scores in the low 70's for a round of golf. That was becoming more difficult in later years and even though with his disability he was still better than most he was not pleased with his performance. At 17 he met the love of his life & they dated for over 12 years. After going their separate ways, Tim married Sharon, his first wife and was blessed with two children daughter Sarah Lynn Hanshew & Micah Lee Hanshew, as well as step-children Joshua Skelton and Kirstie Wuerdeman. In 1999, he reunited with his high school sweetheart Christy Carson and they were married July 25, 1999. During his life Tim worked in various careers, but most important to him was farming on the family farm in Kansas with his grandfather. He loved the farm and working with the land and those were fond years for Tim. In recent years, he was an assistant district manager for the Daily Oklahoman Circulation Department. One of the highlights of Tim's life was the birth of his precious grandson, Anson Odess Wilson this last year. He is survived by his parents Dudley & Kathryn Hanshew, wife Christy Hanshew, daughter Sarah Hanshew, son Micah Hanshew, son-in-law Dylan Wilson, step children Joshua Skelton and Kirstie Wuerdeman, brother Duane Hanshew, sister-in-law Bonnie Hanshew, nieces Kimberly Anderson, Jennifer Hanshew, Lisa Bannerman and his adored grandchild Anson. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Anson Horning, Beatrice Horning, DW Hanshew, Dorothy Gustafson and Alfred Gustafson. Tim, we know you are running with the wind, free of the disabilities that limited you in life, walking the fields with grandfather and playing golf as you could only do in your dreams. Tim was a good decent truly kind man with a humorous personality who never met a stranger and will be missed by his family and friends.
