Timothy Leon Turner passed away peacefully June 23, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born on October 24, 1953, in Springfield, Missouri.
Tim will be remembered for his love of cooking and his enjoyment of discovering new restaurants and cuisines, his passion and talent for trout fishing, and his faith in God and years of ministry.
Tim graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with a minor in Speech Communications, from the University of Arkansas in 1974. He taught English to 7th and 8th graders for a brief time in Springdale, Arkansas. The majority of his career was devoted to ministry, beginning as a youth pastor before moving into senior pastoral roles. He earned his ordination in 1986 in the Assemblies of God and remained in formal ministry for 36 years. He was the senior pastor at Searcy Faith Assembly of God in Searcy, Arkansas, First Assembly of God in West Memphis, Arkansas, First Assembly of God in Levelland, Texas, and Highland First Assembly of God in Highland, Arkansas. For the past few years, he informally continued his ministry by leading a weekly Sunday morning service with his wife, Rhonda, at Legend at Riverdale senior living in Oklahoma City.
Tim is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Rhonda (née Sparkman) Turner, his children Andi Turner, Nathan (Beth) Turner, and Doug (Ana) Turner; his cherished grandchildren Paxton, Jane, Hadley, Hayden, Hazel, Holden, Hudson, and a baby on the way; and his siblings Harrison Turner and Diane (Rob) Rowton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Wilma Jane Turner, and his in-laws, Ronnie and Evelyn Sparkman.
A celebration of Tim’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary & Heritage Burial Park at South Lakes in Oklahoma City. Flowers for the family may be sent to that location.
