Velva Doke, 89, of Oklahoma City, died March 12, 2011. She was born November 22, 1921 in Cogar, Oklahoma to Louis and Riffie Kuhlman. On July 6, 1947, she married Hubert at her farm home in Cogar, Oklahoma. She said she married him because she believed he was a happy man and she wanted a happy life. She loved taking care of Hubert and loved being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Velva enjoyed baking, canning, gardening, and playing games. She remained active in church activities and dedicated her time to serving others. Velva had such a joy of life and loved smiling and laughing.

She was preceded in death by:
• Her parents, Louis and Riffie Kuhlman;
• 2 brothers, Leonard and Robert Kuhlman.

Survivors include:
• Her husband of 63 years and love of her life, Hubert;
• Children, Larry and wife Jan, Dennis and wife Betty, and Cynthia and husband John Taylor;
• 6 grandchildren, Emily Gillmore and Jeremy, Benjamin Doke and Erika, Ben Doke and Leslie, John Taylor, Timothy Doke, Jonathan Doke and Keci;
• 7 great grandchildren, Allison Gillmore, Joshua Doke, Bryson Gillmore, Callie Doke, Hunter Doke, Joel Doke, and Eli Doke;
• And numerous nieces and nephews.
