Vera Marie Zinn Ownbey passed from this life on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the age of 92. Vera was born on the Zinn homestead in Harper County, Oklahoma to Ivan Raymond and Ellen Mabel (Vanderpool) Zinn on January 23, 1932.

After graduating from Buffalo High School, Vera married the love of her life, Frederick Ray Ownbey on June 18, 1950. Their marriage of almost 72 years was the epitome of unconditional love, faith, and dedication to family.

Vera and Fred were blessed with birth of twin daughters, Carolyn Holloran and Marilyn Mackey in 1951.

In 1953 Vera and Fred, with their twins moved to Peachtree Street in Ponca City, Oklahoma. It was there they meet their lifelong and cherished friends Dick and Patsy Clabaugh. The Clabaugh family introduced Vera and Fred to Community Christian Church. The church friends were more than friends, they were family.

When the twins were young, Vera enjoyed taking the girls to swim lessons, being a member of the PTA, a homeroom Mother, and Blue Bird leader. Vera taught her daughters about love, dedication to family, service to community, cooking and all things domestic.

In the early 1960s, Vera began a career at Montgomery Wards. She retired when the store closed. In retirement, she and Fred enjoyed grandchildren and traveling.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Mabel Zinn, two brothers, grandson John Michael, as well as grandparents other loved family members.

Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Holloran of Oklahoma City, Marilyn Mackey and husband Rick of Durant Oklahoma; brother Archie Zinn of Buffalo, Oklahoma, sister-in-law Bertha Wirtz of Austin, Texas; grandsons Derick Covington and wife Margaret of Porter, Texas; Lucas Covington and wife Molly of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Eric Covington and wife Melissa of Yukon, Oklahoma; Brett Hayes and wife Kila of Kingston, Oklahoma; Jason Mackey and wife Michelle of Durant, Oklahoma; Aaron Mackey and wife Dani of Durant, Oklahoma; granddaughter Teresa Andrews and her husband, Sam of Lebanon, Missouri; great grandchildren Megan, Ryan, Hayley, Joey, Sydney, Kate, John, Grace, Caleb, Destiny, Josh, Chrissie, Jack, Bryce, Jared, Paden, Jase, Jasey, Jolie, Jacoby, Ian, Jake, Aubrey; 8 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
