The daughter of Verla Mae (Meeks) and Lee Martin Daws, Sr., she was born on August 27, 1941 in Frederick, Oklahoma. Verla grew up in the Military and went to school in many places including California, Alaska and Hawaii. Verla continued her education at Bethany Nazarene College. On October 3, 1964, she married her sweetheart, John Avington Simpson and together shared more than twenty nine years of marriage. This union of marriage was blessed with a daughter, Reesa and son, Randall. In addition to being a loving wife, devoted mother and dedicated homemaker, Verla also worked as a typist for the Oklahoma Tax Commission for many years and retired from there. Verla was very passionate about caring for her backyard, which was full of roses. She was a longtime member of the Oklahoma Rose Society. She also loved to cook and sew in her spare time, but nothing was as important as being with her family whom she loved with all of her heart. She loved and cared deeply for her family and she will be held close to our hearts each day.
