Victoria 'Vicki" (Dover ) Bednarz, 55 , of Oklahoma City passed away Sunday, June 18th, 2023 at home with her family by her side after a 2 year battle with ALS. Vicki was born October 13, 1967 in Harvard, Illinois to Albert Lee and Betty Jean Dover. She was raised in Kansas City, Missouri, along with her brothers and sisters Liz, Mary, Randy, Steve, and Susie. Vicki's family later moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she was raised by her father and step mother Georgiann Dover.

In her school years she participated in track and field and excelled in science and accounting. In 1985 Vicki graduated from Ruskin High School. In April 1987, she moved to Oklahoma City with husband Tony Dawson where Vicki earned her Associates degree from OCCC and became a registered nurse. She worked for Baptist Medical Center in labor and delivery for 25 years and then for St. Anthony Hospital from 2017-2022 in the Ambulatory Surgery Unit. She made countless lifelong friends through her work and touched so many lives during her career as a nurse.

Vicki was blessed with 4 children, David, Mary, Rachel and Hannah. They were the light of her life and she was the best mother they could ever ask for. She worked hard to provide for her family and she would do anything to provide for them and protect them. Vicki was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed sewing. When the children were younger, she often repaired and even made clothing for them. She enjoyed playing games and especially liked playing them with her children, but she never "allowed" them to win, they had to earn it! Vicki was given the nickname "Darth Vicki" because her gaming skills were top notch and she was extremely difficult to play against. When Vicki and Joe married, 3 more children came into her life, Andrea, Megan, and Isaac. As life went on, and children began to marry, Vicki became the grandmother to 9 grandchildren. Vicki also loved to travel with her family and visited so many destinations like Washington, D.C., New York City, Orlando, Latvia, San Francisco, Seattle, Cabo San Lucas, Jamaica, Grenada, Alaska, Disney World, London, Las Vegas, and most recently, Hawaii. Vicki also loved food and enjoyed including her family and friends in her culinary excursions. No matter if it was local or on vacation, trying something new or a tried and true favorite was always on the list. And if you knew Vicki, you know she was a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan of 50 years.

Vicki loved serving her Lord and was very active in the church. Whether it was Sunday School, singing in the choir and praise team, serving on the Welcome Ministry, leading women's ministry or being involved with the church theater group, Vicki was there to praise God in some form or fashion. Vicki was always an avid Bible reader, and when she was diagnosed with ALS, she took a deep dive into the Word of God. She knew her time was getting short and had said, since she was going to be meeting Jesus soon, she wanted to get to know even more about Him. Her favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

Vicki's presence will be deeply missed by her family and friends but her legacy will live on through each life she touched.

Vicki was preceded in death by her Father, Albert Lee Dover, and unborn baby Randi Dawson
