Violet Adams, 94, of Oklahoma City, passed away Thursday, December 9th, 2021 at Sommerset Assisted Living and Memory Care which had been her home for the past 7 years. Violet was born October 20, 1927 in Ratcliff, Arkansas to John and Nora Bell. Violet was the baby in the family. She was one of 12 Children! Growing up with 7 Brothers and 4 Sisters wasn't easy, but it sure made for an interesting childhood.
Violet was raised in Ratcliff along with her siblings and attended schools there as well. As a young girl she enjoyed playing basketball, riding horses and fishing with her brothers.
In 1943 Violet met the love of her life, George "Ralph" Adams. The two married in 1945 and spent the next 68 years together. They were blessed with two children, Judi and Tommy. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1953 and made Oklahoma their permanent home. When the children were a bit older, Violet started her career as the school secretary at Webster Middle School, where she worked for 15 years. She made great memories there and lasting friendships.
Violet loved cooking for her family. She was the happiest when she had her family at the dinner table. For birthdays she used to make her family member's favorite dessert which is a very fond memory for all of them. "Ma" lived close to her grandsons, Ryan and Aaron. They, along with many of their friends, would often go eat lunch at her house or stop by after school for a snack. She loved the time spent taking care of them and their friends. She was also very active in supporting her grandkids ballgames. Sometimes she might get a little loose and let the ump have it, but it was always a good time for her. She also loved to go fishing with her family. When she'd get one on the line, you could hear her across the lake. She would scream and yell making sure everyone knew she had a bite! She enjoyed music as well and some of her favorites were jitterbug music, classic country and gospel music.
She was a high spirited lady with a little bit of sass and had more love than any other mother or grandmother before her. She will always be remembered for the special things she did for her family and friends that let them know how much she loved them. She will be deeply missed by her family but her memory will live on through them and others she touched along the way.
