Violet
Tabor
February 25, 1936 – May 10, 2026
Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary at South Lakes
Starts at 3:00 pm (Central time)
Violet Nell Tabor, born on the cold twenty-fifth day of February 1936, and returned home on the rainy tenth day of May, 2026.
Violet was born during one of the coldest February’s recorded in U.S. history and was given her name through one of the most beautiful stories our family has ever known. As the tenth-born child of eleven children, Violet came into a family already full of life and love. She received her name after her father saw a single beautiful violet blooming in the snow. He admired its perseverance, its delicacy, and its beauty among the chaos and the cold, and he took it as a sign to name his newborn beautiful daughter.
Violet went on to marry the love of her life, Cecil Bradford Tabor, on May 16, 1952. Together, they had four beautiful children: Steve Bradford Tabor, born in March 1953; Michael Lee Tabor, born in November 1954; Sandra LaNell Holderbee, born in February 1959; and Patricia Ann Taylor, born in June 1961.
Violet was loved and adored by all who were blessed enough to know her. She was a loving, guiding light in the lives of her family and friends, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Many lives were touched by her grace, elegance, kindness, strength, words of advice, and encouragement.
Without her light here with us, the world feels a little less bright, but the love she gave will continue to shine on through every heart she touched
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Tabor; her two sons, Steve Tabor and Michael Tabor Sr; and many other beloved family members.
She is survived by two daughters Sandra Holderbee and husband Larry; Trisha Taylor and husband Stanley; 13 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren, 10 great-great Grandchildren, as well as countless extended family members and loving friends.
