IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia Lee
Bishop
January 29, 1931 – April 7, 2023
Virginia (Vail ) Bishop, 92, of Oklahoma City, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, April 7th, 2023 in Oklahoma City.
Virginia was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma January 29, 1931 to Leonard and Hattie Vail. Virginia was the second of nine children, so it goes without saying there was never a dull moment during her childhood. During her high school years, Virginia, along with her two sisters, enjoyed and excelled in softball and basketball.
Virginia graduated from Yeager High School in 1948. She married the love of her life, Clarence "Junior" Bishop, Jr., on October 22, 1949, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. In 1952, Junior enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Korea. Virginia joined Junior when he returned stateside to Tinker Air Force Base. In 1955, they welcomed their daughter Renee into the world. Virginia loved being a wife and mother. She always made sure her family's needs were lovingly met. Virginia and her family were active members at Southern Oaks United Pentecostal Church and the church was an integral part of their life together. Virginia was a devoted member at Southern Oaks for over 65 years and served many years as Church Secretary. She will be missed by her church family.
Virginia retired from the Federal Service after working in the Accounting Division of the FAA in Oklahoma City for 25 years. She made great memories and countless friends during her career. After Junior and Virginia retired, they enjoyed taking their boat and motor home down on the Texas side of Toledo Bend Lake, spending as much time as possible enjoying those activities. They especially enjoyed the company of close friends who spent time there with them.
Virginia will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but she will always be remembered for her radiant smile, kindness and grace.
