(North) Wanda Sue Johnson died January 3, 2010 after a long fight with pancreas cancer. She was born and raised in Roff, OK, where she was a member of her state champion high school basketball team. After graduating she moved to Oklahoma City where she met and married the love of her life, Ensign Earl Paul Johnson, now Retired LCDR, USN. While Paul served in the submarine force, they had 2 daughters, Kelly, born in Honolulu, Hawaii; and Amy, born in New London, CT. Wanda handled the responsibilities of raising two children with quiet dignity and grace while Paul was posted at sea for months at a time. She volunteered with the Red Cross at the base dental clinic and enjoyed playing bridge, golf and tennis. Once Paul retired from the Navy, the family settled in Oklahoma City to be near family. Wanda was preceded in passing by her parents, Bill & Opal Grinstead. She is survived by husband Paul, daughters Kelly Johnson of OKC & Amy Hawken of Dallas, her brother Bobby of Sulphur, several in-laws, nieces, nephews and caring friends. Wanda was the force that kept the family on course through the years. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, proud mom, and thoughtful friend. In lieu of flowers, donations to OMRF (Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation) are welcome. Viewing will be 4-8PM Thursday and Friday and the service will be 2:00PM Saturday January 9, 2010, both at the funeral home.
