IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wanda Jean
Schomp
October 29, 1942 – June 6, 2023
Vondel Smith Mortuary North (13125 N. MacArthur Blvd)
Wanda Jean Schomp, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 6, 2023. She was born on October 29, 1942 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to her parents Edward and Allene Palmer. Wanda graduated salutatorian from Elmore City High School in 1960. Wanda's career with Kerr-McGee as an executive secretary was the beginning of her interest in the oil industry where she started in 1970 and became a Reservoir Engineering Tech with Slawson Exploration in 1983. Wanda met the love of her life David L. Schomp and married him on July 24, 1981 and made wonderful memories together. Some of her favorite hobbies were arts and crafts, and genealogy. Wanda was much loved and will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.
Preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Allene Palmer of Pauls Valley, and her brother Jerry Edward Palmer.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, David Lee Schomp; daughters, Karen Pitts, Jean Anne Staten; step-daughter, Teri Schomp; grandchildren, Christina Parker, Crystal Thornton, Elizabeth Bunger, Tyler Reed, Cody Reed, Tony Gilliam, and Josh Gilliam; 10 great-grandchildren ranging from 7 months to 11 years old; her brother James Palmer & wife Carolyn of Garland, TX; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
She has always been credited for her bright smile, hugs, positive attitude, perseverance, tenacity, and her unwavered faith in her Lord. She loved with her while heart! She will always be remembered for her kindness and love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had so many friends and knew everything about them.
Her generosity for always creating or baking something for someone. Her time wasn't wasted on selfish entertainment but on making sure everyone around her felt special and loved. She always took time for those she loved. She was the most supportive person and always bragging on her kids and grandkids.
She joked about getting superpowers after her radiation. She had a way of joking around, even in tough situations. It just shows her way of dealing with hard things and bringing joy.
She has her wings now and will always fly high watching over us.
