Wesley Willis Bryen
November 24, 1937 – September 7, 2024
Wesley Willis Bryen, fondly known as "Wes," went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the age of 86. The son of Hallie Albert Bryen and Effie May (Staggs) Bryen, Wes was born on November 24, 1937 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He grew up in Oklahoma City and as a young boy he delivered telegrams on his bicycle for Western Union. He attended Southeast High School and after finishing his education Wes began his long career at Tinker Air-force Base while simultaneously operating his own automotive machine shop. After his retirement from Tinker, Wes became an ambassador for Resthaven Funeral Home. On January 17, 2009, Wes married his sweetheart, Joyce L. Dowler, fondly known as Joy by her family and friends. Together, Wes and Joy shared 16 years together, making many wonderful memories. They were both longtime, active members of Southern Hills Baptist church and cherished the friendships made there. In their spare time, Wes & Joy enjoyed traveling, especially their winters spent in South Texas and many trips with friends to Branson, Missouri. In his later years he loved being called "Pappy" by his seven precious great-grandchildren.
Wes was preceded in death by his:
Parents, Hallie and Effie Bryen;
Sisters, Betty and Edith;
Brothers, Richard and Edward Bryen.
He is survived by his:
Adored wife, Joy Bryen;
Brother, Gene Bryen of El Paso, Texas;
Sister, Ruth Gibson of Alva, Oklahoma;
As well as many nieces and nephews.
He will be laid to rest at Resthaven Cemetery, but his family rejoices in the knowledge that his soul is spending eternity with Jesus.
