William G. "Bill" Liebegott, Sr. passed peacefully early on Saturday morning, September 5, 2015, at home, with family by his side. He was 91 years old. He was born June 21, 1924 in Louisville, Kentucky to his parents, William G. Liebegott and Anne Henle-Liebegott. Bill joined the Navy in 1943 and was stationed at the Naval base at Westheimer Field in Norman, OK. After being honorably discharged, he joined the OKC Fire Department on August 26, 1946. He met his future wife, Arnetta Dixon, in April of 1947 at her family's restaurant, The Blue Bird Café, downtown while fire station #1 was being rebuilt. Bill and Arnetta married on August 19, 1947 and celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this August. Bill retired from the OKC Fire Department as Assistant Chief on August 26, 1972, and went on to work as first assistant director and then director for the OK State Firefighters Association until August 1, 1976. He was actively involved in helping change legislation to support firefighters across the state, as well as legislation related to medical transportation of patients. In 2003, Bill was awarded the Jim Connor Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award for his lifetime commitment and service to the citizens of OKC and their Fire Department. In October of 1978 he began a second career as a security guard at Friendly National Bank. He also coached the girls' softball team for 5 years. He retired in December 1992. Bill was an active member of the OKC Retired Firefighters Association. He was also involved with Asbury, South Lee, and lastly Lambuth United Methodist churches. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

Bill is survived by his loving:

Wife of 68 years, Arnetta Liebegott;

Daughter, Jean Ann Toolate and husband, John;

Granddaughters: Christie Shea and Ali Liebegott;

Grandson, Michael Liebegott;

2 Great Granddaughters: Miley Liebegott and Janna Liebegott;

5 Great Grandsons: Tyler, Caleb, and Nicolas Marzean, Easton Liebegott, and Jaxon Liebegott;

Sister, Mary Zahn and her three children: Mary Helen, Kathy and Jimmy.
