IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Arthur
Blosser
June 19, 1950 – August 5, 2024
Bills Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday August 24, 2024 at Vondel Smith Mortuary at South Lakes.
Bill was born on June 19th, 1950 in La Mesa, California to William Ivan and Erma (Johnson) Blosser. He was the third of six children and always the life of the party.
At a young age Bill had a paper route. His older brother Bob delivered the paper in the mornings. His sisters Linda and Kay delivered the afternoon paper. Bill made a dollar a week.
Bill graduated from Watonga (Oklahoma) High School in 1968 and began college at the University of Oklahoma the following fall. Meanwhile, his family was transferred to Chicago, Illinois. He left OU after one year and graduated from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois in 1974 with a degree in Business Administration.
His only stories of his time at OU were about his time with the OU RUF/NEKs. Which was probably why his no-nonsense father called him home after a year.
Bill stayed in the Normal area for a year and then accepted a job in and moved to Canadian, Texas. This is where he began his career in supplying equipment to the oil drilling industry – where he would work in some capacity for the rest of his career. After several years in Texas, he moved back to Oklahoma, eventually purchasing a townhouse near Moore, Oklahoma in 1988. His townhouse was destroyed in the Moore tornado of 1999 and Bill moved to his home in southwest Oklahoma City where he continued to live until his passing.
In the early 90's, Bill, his brother Bob, and a few friends took a trip to Mexico. They all brought cash to split the costs of their trip. One friend had a coupon. With cash left over, they had to figure out what to do. Split it up? What? No! Let's buy some beer! Beer was cheap in Mexico in the 90's. Despite their best efforts, there was at least a week of beer left.
Bill had an admirable ability to keep up with the many friends he made throughout his life. His close friends today include high school friends from Watonga as well as friends he made while sitting alone at a bar when he first moved back to Oklahoma City. Weekly golf outings, morning coffees, monthly dinners, and OU football games were all with friends and were the highlight of his life. A trip to England with his good friends Sid and Jonie and a trip to the Grand Canyon with his sister Linda both led to countless stories he loved to share. He was a much beloved uncle from the earliest days, always giving time and attention to his nieces and nephews. He loved playing "monkey in the middle" at the pool, Mexican Train and Euchre with them.
Bill was preceded in death by both his parents and his sister Kay Blosser Garcia. He is survived by two brothers, Bob Blosser of Duncan, OK, David (Elizabeth Gernon) Blosser of New Orleans, LA; two sisters, Linda Blosser Petty of Lawrenceville, GA and Carol Blosser (Paul) Egan of Little Rock, AR; and one brother-in-law, Steve Garcia of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by ten nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Garcia (David) Taylor, Carrie Petty, John Petty, William Petty, Katherine Egan, Margaret Egan, Robert Egan, Kaylyn Blosser (Christopher) Handy, Kelsey Blosser, and Lee Blosser, and one great grandniece, Bonnie Taylor.
