Obituary

A memorial service to celebrate and honor the life of Bill Kutz will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, March 20th, 2021 at Grace Place Baptist Church, 9300 S. Anderson Road, Oklahoma City. William Joseph "Bill" Kutz, 70 years old, passed peacefully into eternal life on Monday, March 1, 2021. Bill was born on September 18, 1950 in Missouri to Virgil and Fannie Kutz and married Vista Jane "Janie" Kutz in October of 1981. Bill was tender-hearted and compassionate and rarely turned down an opportunity to help others. He served faithfully in his church in every area he felt qualified, including everything from finances and budgeting to construction projects. He loved singing in the church choir, taught Sunday School and led a Celebrate Recovery group. His family was always his priority. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were drawn to his gentleness and quiet spirit and his playfulness. It was a common sight to find him giving piggy-back rides, reading stories, showing a new teen driver how to change a tire, or simply walking across a room with giggling children hanging from every limb. The love and compassion Bill and Janie had for people, especially hurting children, compelled them to become foster parents in 1985, opening their home to more than 240 children. They served in Advocacy and Partnership programs with the Cleveland County Department of Human Services, working to reunite children with their families whenever possible. They were recognized by the State of Oklahoma, featured in local and state newspapers, and honored on three occasions for their service to children in need and their families. While serving in the foster care program, Bill and Janie added three children to their family through adoption. In recent years, Bill and Janie enjoyed a Caribbean cruise and travels to Disney World, Colorado, Branson, MO, and Silver Dollar City. When Bill did find time for himself, he loved to be out on the lake with a fishing rod in his hands – a hobby that fit his quiet spirit a patient nature. Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Janie; his parents, Virgil and Fannie Kutz; his brother, Anthony Kutz; and daughter, Michele Allison. He is survived by his children, Michael Jones and wife, Rhonda, Melissa Horton and husband, Reid, Richard Kutz, Allie Hartshorne, and Marcia Brown; sisters, Helen Kutz, JoAn Kutz and husband, Michael Staniford, Rose Haynes, and Vonnie Kutz. Bill's legacy includes 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a countless number of families his life has impacted over the years. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. (1Timothy 6:11-12) Vondel Smith Mortuary (S. Western Ave)
