The Locally-Owned Funeral Home: A Part of the Community
Locally owned funeral homes have a long proud history of personal service to the people they serve. This service is provided by local people with deep roots in the local community. Some of the oldest, continuously operated businesses in America are family-owned funeral homes.
What's in a name?
In America today, many family-owned funeral homes are silently being bought by large corporations. Often, these corporations do not change the names of the local funeral homes in order not to promote their presence. You, the consumer, may not even be aware that you are dealing with a large corporation unless you ask. You can be assured that Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary is still owned by the same family that founded it in 1957.
A Singular Focus
All of our attention is devoted to making Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary the best it can be in terms of satisfying the needs of our friends and neighbors. We are not distracted nor bound by corporate mandates. We're flexible and more responsive to your needs.
Personal Pride
This is our business and our hometown. We take great personal pride in keeping our facilities and vehicles in top condition. We are also proud of our staff and high level of professional standards they maintain.
A Long-Term Commitment
We have a long-term commitment to this community; this is where we live and plan to stay. We not only want to meet your current needs, but want to build a relationship so you will return to us in the future.
An Investment in The Community
Just as you do, we turn to our neighbors for services and products. Whenever possible, we choose to do business with other locally-owned and operated businesses. Preneed Trust funds are invested in state and local owned banks. We also support many local charities, schools and other community efforts.
