Beloved father, brother, grandpa, uncle and friend, passed from this life on April 13, 2012, in Edmond, Oklahoma at the age of 61. He was born in Trona, CA April 11, 1951 and was a graduate of Trona HS in 1969. He came to OKC in 1970 and was a member of Ambucs, Life NRA, BSA, and he was an active in the local Chapter of the Edmond Elks Lodge. He was very dedicated to his life work and passion of auto mechanics, so much so that every family member and friend took their car to him. Paul owned Sharpe Automotive for 30 years, and also taught welding and air conditioning repair at Moore/Norman Technical College. When Paul came to Oklahoma in 1970 he began working for Harley Sharpe at Sharpe Automotive. He later began a partnership with Harold Smith. In 1983 he went out on his own and bought a plot of land in the Centennial Industrial Park In Edmond that was still in its infancy and off the “beaten path” of downtown Edmond . Paul knew that someday this would become an up and coming part of the city. He went on and built what is known as Sharpe Automotive Inc in Edmond, OK . Everyone in town referred to him as “Tall Paul” and he was well known for his restoration of classic cars especially his passion and legacy his 1969 E-type Jaguar coupe. He made all of his family members and friends feel as though they were his favorite. He is survived by the mother of his children, Donene Bengtson, his daughter Melinda Chada and her Husband Evan, his son Paul Ryan Bengtson, his granddaughters Graceyln and Markey and his grandson Colton Bengtson, his two brothers and their wives Eric and Kathy Bengtson and Alan and Susie Bengtson. He was preceded in death by his father Franklin Niles Bengtson and his mother Naomi Inez Bengtson. Memorial services will be held at 3:00pm Wednesday April 18, 2012 at the Vondel L. Smith Mortuary North Colonial Chapel, 13125 North MacArthur Oklahoma City, OK 73142
