Memorial service to celebrate Linna’s life will be 2PM Monday at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 8601 S.Penn, OKC.


Linna Davis Edwards was born in Cherokee County, NC to Oscar & Josie (Allen) Davis. Upon high school graduation, where she was valedictorian, she moved to Atlanta, GA. There she met her husband Jack D. Edwards & they married on Nov. 5, 1954. Shortly after their wedding they moved to Oklahoma City. After nearly 28 years Linna retired June of 2001 from INSURICA, formerly known as North American Group, as Associate Vice President. She had a distinguished insurance career earning considerable professional recognitions. She also served on the Board of Directors for several organizations including the Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma. As an active member of Southern Hills Baptist Church, she served as teacher of a Women’s Sunday School Class for 26 years. She was passionate about gardening enjoying planting & raising flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters & 1 brother. She is survived by her husband, Jack; daughter, Diane Powers (Mike), of Sherwood, AR; son, David Edwards (Jana) of Oologah, OK; grandchildren, Amber Hefner, Todd Hefner (Vennetta), Ashlee Edwards, Nate Edwards & fiancée, Ellen; great-grandchildren, Tyler & Joslyn Hefner. She is also survived by her sisters; Corena Russell (James) & Lois Julian (Allen) all of North Carolina.
